Hospital Stay
Jonas had his G-button surgery on Monday. His surgery was delayed for 4 1/2 hours. He was a hungry boy, but still proving to be a trooper didn't complain just slept. It was the hardest thing ever to hand him over to the anesthesiologist. In the waiting room, each time the phone would ring I would hope that it was for us to go see Jonas. Finally the Dr. Downy came out and talked to us. Jonas did great! We went as quickly up to the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) as we could. Jonas was still out of it. At one point Jonas scared me because all of a sudden his belly was huge and hard as rock and his tube wasn't venting it out. The doctor felt like maybe part of his lung had collapsed and his tummy was filling up with air. I thought that was it. My Jonas was going to leave me. Long story short... his lung didn't collapse and his tummy finally vented and everything was just fine. He was taken of the ventilator and he breathed all on his own just fine. We put him on his Bi-Pap for the night and went home to try and sleep. I slept with a onesie by my face to try and smell him. Whit worked the next two days while I sat by Jonas. Grammie came and sat with me too. That was really nice! We thought they forgot about us in the PICU because it took forever to leave. We spent one night on Whit's unit and came home on Wed. night.
Jonas is doing so well! Better than I ever expected. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. That is what keeps us going everyday. Thank you to Jonas' nurses and techs. You are awesome.
