Hola! Vamonos tools!

This is a good thing! Jonas hasn't been able to sit up at this angle for a long time. His secretions would get the best of him and he would be choking in a matter of seconds. So the Robinol is doing something!!! Now we can watch Handy Manny with Handy Manny, one of his new favorites since Christmas! Thanks Grammie!

We also have switched his formula and let me tell you it stinks! Literally, it smells so bad that I want to gag! Ay yi yi, it smells like a dead fish. Jonas is having a hard time digesting his food and so this is a diet that a lot of SMA kids use. Unless we want to keep him hooked up to his pump and feed him on a continuous drip then we need to try something else. Honestly if I can't figure out how to make this smell better than I might just rather him be on the pump all the time. So now I have a new job description to add to my list...Nutritionist. Parents are really the ones to figure out their kids diet and see what works for them. They are all very different and so one thing that works for another..doesn't always work for you. We need to start adding some juices, fruits, veggies, vitamins to this stinky formula and hopefully that can diminish the smell. Yesterday was the first day that we tried this and we followed the recipe given to us from a dietitian at Primary's. We added some canola oil to it and that's actually what I thought that smell was from. Not only was it stinky, but oil..well it sticks and it doesn't go away. I got it everywhere! Jonas leaked it out from his tummy onto his clothes and sheep skin. Then while I was trying to clean that up I got it in his hair..good hair gel... I bathed him and then again it leaked onto his onesie, his sock and pant leg, and all over my bed! So yesterday was a clean the house day and try to get rid of the oil and fish smell. So cross your fingers that we figure something out or I might be inviting you over to clean my house. Because Whit and I can't go to long without having any accidents when it comes to Jonas' food. No more drips here and little spills there or forgetting to plug his medicine port at midnight and have all of his formula go into his bed instead of his tummy.(yea that's happened more than once, shame on us)

Hi Lindsey! Is he on the Amino Acid diet now, then? Or is it another formula?

I KNOW what you mean about the leaking...Dakin's NG tub port occasionally leaks and makes an awful mess. Now, I don't know anything about G-tubes, so I don't know if this is even feasble, but we pretty much have the leaking under control when we dry out the port. Just thought I'd suggest it, but like I said I don't know how they work. Is it leaking out around the stopper, or is it the port itself leaking?

SO GLAD the Robinol is working! Hugs to you guys!!
