As our trip continued so did that cloud of mist, so we thought maybe if we took the hour drive to the south side of Maui in Kihei we'd find the sun. Well we did, but that wind was even worse. Maggie wasn't too happy about that. I thought for sure she would love to sit and sift through the sand with her fingers, but not so much. We also brought her life-jacket along so she could bob in the water with us, like we've done in the past. Not happening, so we built her a little cocoon in her stroller and she had her own private theater. :)
the one thing I wanted was a big family picture with the beautiful sunset in the background....that didn't happen. Guess we have to go back.
This picture makes me laugh because I was singing a song through my teeth to make Maggie smile, but I guess I was so good she needed to look at where that beautiful sound was coming from.
My 'ohana
minus one brother and family. We sure missed them and wished so badly they could have joined us. Next time we'll come closer to you, let's say Bahamas?
(ha ha cause that's the best picture of Arica)
my "bras" that's Hawaiian right?
Maggie was Amazed with the gelato
Now the scary part. We saw a shark! Naw, just kidding, but Maggie just about went boggie boarding without the board! Here's Whit letting Maggie touch her toes in the water, which she was pretty adamant that she did NOT like, still.
So then Whit, I say Whit because it was all his fault (love you hunny), decides to dip her in the water when a wave is going out. Thinking it was pretty calm then... oh not so much. It all happened so fast, literally right after this clicked, so all I remember seeing was Whit pretty much under the water with arms stretched as far out as possible and Maggie getting hit by other wave. I just about dropped the camera, but as fast as it happened Whit was up again. That one made my stomach hurt for awhile after. But I did manage to snap a quick photo of the very scared and mad little girl. Who knows maybe she wasn't scared more just angry that her dad just dunked her in not so warm water.
A lesson that I thought we'd learned, right dad? Wish I could have gotten a picture or better yet video of that one. Hahaha! Anyway, I think we'll remember a little better now. Never turn your back to the ocean, it'll get you every time.
But we made it, phew. Had some fun snorkeling, got to eat some very delicious fish tacos (and I hate fish), Maggie enjoyed her favorite birds in Rio. It was just another couple of days in paradise!

Wow, looks like you guys had a great time! Maggie sure is the cutest little Kihe Wahine!! Funny she didn't like the water, but it's cold compared to good ol' Florida:) Pictures are all adorable, give that little miss a big kiss from all of us!!
What a fun trip!!! So glad you had the opportunity to do it, even though Maggie may have been a bit miffed on occasion :) She did get a new shirt, tho!
And no matter how miffed she gets, she is still a cutie!

I talked to your Mom a couple of days ago and she reminded me of your blog. You and Whit are doing amazing things. What opportunities you give to Maggie (and gave to Jonas) to experience life. Wish we saw you more often---Love to you and your cute family
