Our Annual trip to Lake Powell landed over Labor Day weekend this year. Good and Bad. It's really a great time to be in Lake Powell, the weather is usually good, the water is warm, but unfortunately it's also right when school starts. That doesn't really affect our little family, but the rest of the fam/crew couldn't make it. So we went for just the weekend and stayed on the houseboat in the slip. We knew it would be a different trip, but we haven't gone ANYWHERE this summer and I was ready for something! A big plus staying on the slip is that we have constant power for Maggie and air conditioning!
We had a great time and took it pretty chill. We'd pack a lunch and head out for the day and spend all day on the lake. Swim, eat while Maggie would take a nap, and go explore the canyons. Maggie had a blast swimming with us and loved her life jacket, it had princesses on it and it held up her head so great!
Lazy mornings, as soon as Maggie would wake up we'd pull her into bed with us. Wish we could just sleep like this always. Sigh.
Maggie did so great while riding on the boat. One of the days we rode for almost 2 hours and she sat up on my lap the whole way there! Pretty amazing, considering that it isn't always smooth sailing. On the way back it was exceptionally bumpy and my back is so sore and bruised from trying to take all the bumps for her and hold her as still as I could. But we made it and it was a great time!
Where we headed for the 2 hour ride....Hole in the Rock. This is where the Pioneers traveled down in their efforts to try and find a path to connect St. George and Blanding. They were pretty brave and pretty amazing for doing that.
That's Hole in the Rock
Taking a dip in the canyons...the water is so clear in the canyons.
The perfect spot to watch the rest of us ski/wakeboard
Short, but full of fun! Thanks Grammie and Papa for coming with us and doing alot of the hard work. Love you guys! Yea for Lake Powell!

Lindsey, you are so so naturally beautiful. Whit still tells you this everyday, I'm sure! Maggie looks darling in her swimsuit and with sun kissed cheeks! And, I also appreciated the hole in the rock picture. Andrew finished The Undaunted recently which details that experience. So glad you made it to Lake Powell this year!!

Everyone is right - beautiful, all of you. (Okay - Whit is handsome. In a beautiful way. :)
I don't know how to express this, exactly - but the look in your eyes, that picture where you are all cuddled up together on the bed...both Whit and Lindsey are looking at Maggie. So much love pouring out, surrounding her. Two parents who, day in and day out, night in and night out, give her their all. Just like they did for Jonas.
It makes me cry.
(The good kind of crying.)
This is what true love looks like. You all show it - everywhere - everywhere.
Tears, happy tears, sad tears, and most of all, thankful tears for this family,
Cathy in Missouri
