Back to the Very Special Birthday!

I know it's been close to almost a month since Maggie's 3rd Birthday, but I never got around to sharing about her special day. A little unreal that we got to celebrate this milestone and so we tried to make it a really extra special day for her. Luckily Daddy got the day off and so we were together all day, which I thought was fantastic!
First of all we did a lot of talking about her upcoming birthday and the birthday song was sung a lot...It came to be a favorite! That morning we woke her up by singing that song and the normally happy girl in the morning was even happier to be hearing her song from both Mom and Dad. We had a birthday balloon ready for her as well, which stole the show. Her eyes were glued to it all day!

Trying to get a early start and beat the heat, we headed off to the Hogle Zoo. It was the perfect morning! My parents and Uncle Logan were nice enough to join us for the outing. Trying to get all that Uncle Logan time in as much as we could! We walked our usual path, seeing our usual friends.
 The cute elephants were out!
Got to see our awesome polar bear swim twice!! If we see her swim, then the whole Zoo trip was a success. We could go just for this.
Saw the brown bears for the first time...they were pretty cute!
The Zoo had these Lego statues up all over...our favorite one.
Smiles mean success!! It was so nice to have a successful outing. This past summer was a bit of a challenge in that area, so it's refreshing to have things go well.
We headed down to City Creek Mall to grab a little food and let Maggie see the fountains. It started to rain, but we still had a great time watching the fun water. She loves water!!

With that in mind, we thought it was time to do a swim party! We didn't get to swim all that much this summer, so we rented out our local club and invited our family for an evening of swimming. The weather was a little tricky, but for the most part it cooperated. I guess we didn't make it super clear that it was a swimming party, cause pretty much most of our family didn't swim!!! Maggie had the pool to herself!

Whoa..crowed pool! Thanks for swimming girls!!
Cupcakes were her cake this year. She's so funny...at first she's intrigued and then she always ends up crying with her cake. We're just going to remember the initial reaction!

Getting spoiled with presents! I know it's so hard to think of something to give Maggie, but we really appreciate the thoughts and creativity that everyone had. The thought means so so much!
We couldn't really see from where we were, but this was a complete double rainbow!
What a fitting ending to a perfect day!
Well really the ending took place with a down pour, but who cares!

It's just amazing to think how well Maggie has been and is doing. I don't know if I can adequately describe what this birthday meant to us. We never got to celebrate this 3rd birthday with Jonas and we are in uncharted territory with Maggie now. Sadly, the truth is that this past birthday could be Maggie's last that we get to celebrate with her. It's something that never leaves our minds.
We love her with all of our hearts and more!

Whit and Linds,

I cannot even begin to fathom what this birthday meant to you for Magg's. Honestly, what a sweet day. I am so glad everything went beautifully - you guys deserve that more than anyone I know. I have never met more devoted parents. Truly Jonas and Maggie are so lucky to have you for eternity.

You are so brave to write about these milestones, not knowing like you said, if you will have another or not. I end up in tears reading it because I just don't want you to have to experience it again. I just want Magg's to miraculously be healed and be here for years and years and years to come. I don't want your hearts to have to go through it all again.

I'm so grateful that through Jonas I met you. I would not have known you if it weren't for him. I think about him so often. Now you have this darling Maggie that I have fallen in love with as well. I only wish I could see her more often and tell her how much I love her, and how brave she and Jonas are.

Thank you for writing these posts. You two inspire me and so many many more.

Love you - Ash

Dear Lindsay ! When I read this post few weeks ago ; I was far to imagine that it would be Maggie's last birthday on earth. SMA is so cruel. I'm still crying in front of my computer seeing your sweet daughter smiling face ... I can not imagine how you feel.

May your baby to come comfort your heart !
