It's Harvest Time!!

So this is our first year planting and growing a garden and therefore our first Harvest. We grew some strange things; zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, cherry peppers, banana squash, and pumpkins. We also have a apple tree that grows three different kinds of apples on it. Things are not always normal at the Coleman house and that now includes the garden. The hot cherry peppers were as hot as a habenero pepper, the pumpkins ended up cross-pollinating with the squash(we think), the zucchini grew a foot a night...they were always so big, and the carrots.... let's just say mutant. I was laughing to myself as I was trying to dig them up. I felt like I was at Disneyland and I was in an area where things are bigger than normal. We picked a "pumpkin" early to carve Jonas' name in it, but ended up picking a squash. I'm not so sure we would even want to eat the squash because it's one of the "squashkins". No matter how things turned out it was fun doing it. I don't even like more than half the things that I grew. But now that we are pro-farmers we are going to expand our selection. A little corn, tomatoes, strawberries, and beans sound good to add. You might see me on the curb of my sidewalk selling produce, because there are only two of us. Happy Fall!!

I love mama's homegrown carrots, she grew this one just for me!

Do you think mutant carrots are worth more money? :)
Things to remember when growing carrots for next year:
thin out the carrots
Get a chisel to dig them out when planting in clay
Don't give them Miracle Grow.. they grow huge!!

If that's not an ad for miracle grow I don't know what is! LOL! That is amazing. You should enter those babies in the fair.
