Deja vu? About this time of last year we were planning to get out of the fun January cold and head to sunny Arizona to visit my brother and family. Well, we never made that trip as we were blind-sided with Jonas' diagnosis. So here we are again planning to go to visit the family when Jonas gets sick. Hanging my head in shame because my dear little boy most likely received this cold from me as I am sick as well. Beginning yesterday he started to sound junky in his nose, but nothing else. Then took a turn for the worse very quickly last night. Fever, needing oxygen, not being able to come off his bi-pap for even two seconds before diving down...please not the hospital. He was the worst he has ever been, even when we took him in the ambulance this summer. Even though the chicken noodle soup was calling my name(they usually serve that on Tues.) we fought to keep him home. That PICU is just not fun. So everyone, let me share with you our little miracle. Prayers are answered. I have to say that a lot of my prayers have gone unanswered or at least not the way that I would like them answered. One day I will see the reason for that, but last night Heavenly Father answered our prayer. Whit was jumping to get Jonas to the hospital, while I was so hesitant. So Whit decided he needed a blessing. On bended knees, Whit blessed Jonas that he would not need to go to the hospital. That he would rest peacefully at home by lowering his heart rate, needing no more help from the oxygen, letting his lungs expand and the secretions to come out, but also knowing that whatever needed to happen would happen. It wasn't an instant thing, but we are not at the hospital and Jonas is like another little boy. Through the night as we did his treatments, one by one the things that we asked for happened. You can tell that he still doesn't feel up to par, but he is so much better than he was. Truly a blessing. Jonas' room is more a PICU than ever today, but so much more comfortable. So if things continue as they have been we will be staying home. Jonas in his bed, me wearing my mask, and Whit "working" from home. He is a great nurse! What would I do with out him!

Blessings are beautiful things. I hope he is able to stay out of the hospital. Keep getting better, Jonas!!
We are so sad that you guys can't come down and visit but SO glad that Jonas is doing better. He has been on our minds so much lately and we miss those big baby blues of his. I'm so glad that his blessing helped. Be so grateful, Linds, that you are married to a man who can give blessings to your little guy. You guys are such amazing parents and I don't know how you do what you do. I hope Heavenly Father continues to bless you, even with just the little things. You're always in our prayers. We love you guys!
I'm glad he's doing better, what a great story. Thanks for sharing.
I thought it was a funny tidbit that you happen to know which day of the week they serve chicken noodle soup! I hope your cold gets better. Seriously amazing that your husband is a nurse and has that knowledge.
Praying, praying, praying for you!
On your team,
Cathy Groves
