Ever since the beginning of therapies for Jonas I have asked about a chair that Jonas could sit in while in the living room, on the couch, etc. ,something supportive. Looking at other families blogs, it seemed like they all had Tumble Form chairs. However our therapists did not feel like that was the solution. Obviously being so young Jonas could sit on our laps or still sit in his bouncer pretty well, so I didn't fight it.
Finally Jonas was donated a great chair from a family that one of our therapists worked with in the past. Their daughter used this chair up until she passed away. Our therapist, probably being annoyed with my constant question about seating, asked if we could use it and they graciously donated in memory of their little girl, Allie.
The day came when we got a new PT and I decided I would try out this, "stick up for what you want" technique and it worked. Maybe it's that our new PT is just really awesome and experienced or maybe I'm learning how to be more demanding. Either way it was about time we got this...
We saw it being used by our buddy Riley and decided that Jonas needed one to. Our PT did all the work and contacted a foundation that buys equipment like this for children. It isn't perfect for Jonas..he has no head control so he needs a pillow behind his head, he can't tolerate sitting up for a really long time with his belly squished (more Jonas than the chair), but other than that it's really really cool! A great way to see the world from a different perspective.
We can sit on the couch together and read, watch a movie, play our games, even sit up with the rest of the families at Sunday dinners because it's totally light enough to transfer!

Jonas is so beautiful! He has his mommy's eyes. I hope to meet him one day. I LOVE the picture where he is sleeping in mommy's arms- what a moment. I work with Whit and have heard a lot about you and Jonas. I am so glad you all got to go to Disneyland, that must have been GREAT!

Riley loves the Tomato chair! i can't believe the therapist was telling you he didn't need a chair. that's when you say "you're ordering one any way!" :) riley can't really hold his head up in it to well at times either so we usually have to tilt it back. we also made a neck roll for him from a tube sock filled with rice...it is awesome! it looks dorky but it works. i don't know why we didn't think of it earlier.
