Lake Powell 2010

After our St. George trip we had a couple days to recoup and gather our belongings again as we headed down to Lake Powell.

My brothers and I were in charge of getting all of the food and packing for this trip. My parents were in Phoenix celebrating my older brother, Morgan or I should say Dr. Morgan's, graduation. (Looking back we wished we would have been able to travel down there too and be there to support him. He was honored a lot and he deserved a bigger cheering section! Way to go Morgan we love you!!)
Anywhoo.. I think we did a pretty good job. It wasn't as stressful as I was anticipating and we didn't forget a thing.
The highlight of the trip was the heat. It was hotter than hot while we were there. Unseasonably warm..100 during the days and no lower than 80 at night with no breeze. I pretty much thought I was going to die every night and I can't imagine what Jonas was thinking. As usual though he did a great job, but he was ready for it to be over with. And here I thought it was going to be cold, I packed two pairs of sweats for myself. Ha Ha.
my two boys sleeping in the "pit of despair" during the day when it was bearable.
I know this picture isn't centered and a little blurry, but can you see that smile. This is even after sleeping in the heat.
Love this boy
!
Knowing it wasn't going to be as easy to get him into the water like in the past, we brought a blow up pool and set it up on top of the houseboat. That was a blast.
However, I just couldn't be in Lake Powell and not try to get Jonas into the lake. After a boat ride one day we popped into the water and swam from the back of the boat to the back of the houseboat while my dad watched the bi-pap and kept it moving with us. Not a very good description, but what we did worked! Jonas loved it.
We did it twice.
Taking a boat ride to the canyons was a hit with Jonas and was a good time for an afternoon nap. Nothing better than snoozin' while cruisin'.
One particular canyon ride, while everyone else went for a hike to the ruins, we stayed and cooled off in the water. If not for the fact that it was so hot, I would never have gone in this water. It was very shallow (we had to squat to cover ourselves), very brown and murky looking. While hanging out in this water for awhile... Whit jumps out of the water and yells, "something touched me". Are you serious? Yes, but we continue to be in the water, everyone is coming back now so we are a little distracted. not too long later, Whit jumping out of the water again, "Ok we've got to get out of the water, something touched me again!" Sick!
By touched he meant nibbled. Something was definitely trying to get a little taste of Whit's inner thigh. I hate knowing that Jonas was right there with him and it could have been nibbling at him and he wouldn't have been able to do a thing about it. No more swimming in murky water for this mom or little boy.
They survived the Lake Powell Guppy..mean little thing
Other highlights:
Whit slaloming with style for me because I couldn't
Whit falling with style
Whit almost being dragged down to the bottom because his ski got caught in the rope. He disappeared completely and then he and his ski popped up very far apart from each other.
Our score: Two thumbs up

Hey! This may sound really bad but I don't even know what we are doing as far as the Conference goes. Do you guys need anything while you are here? If we can help out in any way, please let us know! I know that we will be going to some of the Conference but I am not sure what. I want to meet you and Jonas for sure:) Maybe, can I get your # so we can get in touch when you arrive? Do you guys get here on Thurs? Are you staying at the hotel? Because we live so close we aren't, I need to schedule with my sister so she can watch the kids. My # is 801.885.3645, feel free to call me, especially if you need something. Can't wait to meet you guys.
