It's finally here! Maggie has her borrowed power chair to start practicing on. It's not a looker, but she loves it all the same. We went to the wheelchair shop and made sure it was a good fit..of course she grew so some adjustments needed to be made. Then she tried out the super sensitive joy-stick....which is much different than the one she tried before. All she did was drive it in a circle! Very opposite of the first time, but very age appropriate. The funny thing is she knew exactly what she was doing....she was riding the tea cups!

No but really, she had a smile on her face the entire time. As she would whiz by you, a grin would spread across her face. Even bigger when you would tell her to stop. Already had my foot run over, does not feel good. The video of her isn't the greatest so I'll wait to upload one until she gets a little better. Hopefully that's soon because it's really hard for me to just let her spin in circle after circle after circle. Part of her problem is she's really good at moving her hand side to side, resulting in circles. It's a harder movement for her to go forward and backwards. Those movements come more from the shoulder. So we have a lot of experimenting so that we can find that sweet spot. She LOVES it though! Totally cried when I took her out of it today so that she could eat. Now we need to start shopping around for ramps so that we can take it over to the church to practice in a big open space. Maybe give the carpet a break. Fun!

Oh and this is after we threw down some bubble wrap so that as she ran over them they would pop and she would like it....well she SO did not.
