Oh Boy!!!

What a day we had yesterday. First off, I try so hard every day to make sure that Jonas has productive, fun, creative days. I don't want him watching TV all day long because that is the only thing that he can do completely by himself. I try to balance it out and change it up. Reading, playing with toys, standing/sitting/stretching, and of course movies or TV. It's hard! Especially when you have a little boy who doesn't think much is exciting. Unless you're singing. I think that Jonas thinks the only way to communicate it through singing. I don't know what it is, but when I try to talk to him he ignores me. Must be genetic...just kidding..but the moment I start singing he gives me eye contact and smiles. Maybe that's a boy for ya? Anyway, yesterday I decided that we were going to make cookies for Valentine's. We went over to Grammie's and made the mess there. Plus Jonas is a hard one man show as you will be able to see when we are trying to roll out the dough. I hope that he had fun watching and trying to participate. It's not too easy to do things on your back. Then, here comes the "Oh Boy", we cut his hair!!! I'm still crying. I loved to play with his hair when we would do his 'pat pats' (that's when I pat his chest to help loosen 'stuff' in his lungs. It's technically called CPT, chest percussion therapy). I know, I know his hair was long and in his eyes and in this picture, I hate to say it but he kind of looks like a little homeless boy. Scary!
Jonas wasn't too thrilled with us messing with his hair. He cried big crocodile tears. He was so sad, but I don't know if it was because we were cutting his hair or because he couldn't see the Little Mermaid that was playing. Hehehe. Whit tried to cut it my way..with scissors and like you would if you went to a salon, but we are not hairstylists. Clearly from my pictures before. So Whit got his way and we ended up using the electric trimmers. Oh boy it is not what I wanted at all. I would never have cut his hair like this if he were "normal". Maybe when he was eight, but not 1! So here's the process...

Jonas playing with his hair for the final time... very long hair going bye-bye

trying to see Little Mermaid after the final cut...it's so short!!
I personally don't like it, but he still looks cute. While Jonas was getting his hair did...Taylor was getting his done as well. Arica was putting his hair into little pigtails. So I joined along and put Whit's in some too. Both of their hair is getting long. Whit looks like a dork in his and Taylor's make him look scary. Papa has the Jonas haircut and so we tried to have a little one in the front if you can see it.
Let's just continue the longest post with one more bit of information... Jonas has a runny nose. Great! Even though I don't go anywhere he still gets it! I hope and pray that this can just stay in his nose and not move to his chest. If that can happen then maybe he can get over it quickly and be ok. So far everything else looks good. He's just not the happiest. Maybe he doesn't like his haircut either.

Victoria was saying something along these lines yesterday--it is hard to entertain them all day long!!! I know what you mean...you can only do so much before they get bored with you or whatever it is you're doing...ah well.

The haircut is cute!! And I'll be praying Jonas doesn't get sick!!

Whit you look awesome. What a day to check out your blog :) Jonas is adorable with his haircut, but I know what you mean about crying after cutting it. He's as cute as ever.

I was so sad when I cut Jax hair, but now he looks like a big boy, and no one calls him a girl anymore.

I love the fact that he responds so well to your singing! Singing to our children is a wonderful Mathie family tradition. Robert sang to Jesse when he was very young, though he's not as enthused about it now that he's 16 years old! But, now Grandpa Bob gets to sing to the grandkids when we see them. Keep up the tradition!
