Raising of a Star

We tried to make Jonas' 3rd Birthday a special one and I have to say I think it was a pretty good one. We went and visited him, brought him balloons, a mickey in a plant, pictures, and a special little snowman was made by his cousin Max. Then we hurried over to the Make A Wish building to raise Jonas' star and have a little party.

Part of the Make A Wish program is have a party after your wish has been made. You can do it before, but we had opted for after not thinking we wouldn't get the chance with Jonas. It couldn't have been a better time to celebrate than his birthday and we are so grateful to Make A Wish for making it happen. As all his real birthdays have gone it's always a last minute thing. Thank you to all our family for coming.

Our wish granters, Sarah and Stuart were so thoughtful, they had a cute cake for Jonas, Disney music was playing in the background, and they made sure Jonas got the star he would have wanted.
For every wish child there is a star that can be raised and kept in the Wish Building in there honor. There are over 600 stars already there. What a wonderful thought of all those deserving children getting to experience their wish. Jonas is now apart of those wishes. We raised his star for him. How I wish Jonas could have seen that, although I know he wouldn't have been looking at his..he would have been looking at every thing else around him. Still, for one moment he would have clued in and it's that moment that I want to see on his face.

We bundled Maggie up and ended the night with the Lights down and Temple Square. Jonas loved seeing the lights and again my heart hurt not having him by my side seeing the joy and intrigue on his face.
We know that a family is forever and we will see Jonas again.
We had a good day thinking of you and doing the things you would have loved to see.
I love you my love, Happy Birthday!

I am a random person and can see what an angel Jonas really was and is, but I think his parents have just as big of wings. Jonas was lucky to be with the two of you, it seems like you didn't let him miss out on life. Thankyou for the example. Prayers are with your family at this time.

oh. i found your link from jen fausets blog on jonas. i just want you to know that i don't cry very much anymore. my 8 year old son has been battling with cancer for the last 10 months and it has been a very long emotional year and so many tears have been shed to cry very often anymore. after seeing the sweet faces of your family, and the pure, innocent eyes of jonas, i cannot stop crying. i am so sorry for your loss. thank goodness for the gospel and the knowledge we have to be with those sweet perfect spirits again. i am sure you feel the same as i do when i say how lucky we are to be their mothers. my son is recovering well and healing quickly by miracles but i have spent many nights next to him in the hospital not knowing what was going to happen next to my sweet boy, not knowing if he was going to make it through. i am sorry i am rambling as i am sobbing my point is to tell you that my heart is with your family. how lucky you are to have had him for 3 years and to have learned so much from him. my prayers are with you. holly gooch www.mysuperspence.blogspot.com

WOW, I have spent the last two hours reading your blog and seeing the experiences you have been through over the last several years. I am overwhelmed with the strength and positive attitude you've maintained throughout your difficult process. Thank you so much for being willing to share it! I am a single mother of two perfectly healthy boys and often I am overwhelmed with the realities of my situation, but after reading your blog, I feel awful for ever having complained. I'm just so thankful for their health. Thank you for the example you've set.
